To put it simply I am a yes person. Especially when it comes to my job that I care a lot about I have a hard time saying no and setting certain boundaries for myself when it comes to work. Adrienne reminds us all the time that we need to make sure that we are taking care of ourselves. This can be hard sometimes, especially in the thick of busy season. It’s essential that we take time for ourselves and set boundaries with our clients and our time in the office.
Coming from a customer service background, all I want to do is make the client happy. I used to on occasion come in for a walkthrough on a day that was supposed to be my day off if no one else could, just to hopefully increase our chances of getting a good review because we worked around their schedule. I’ve learned the hard way, that for my sanity I can’t do that. And that usually isn’t what will lead to a good review anyways. There are only so many hours in a day and there is only so much we can get done between emails, walkthroughs, phone calls, and working events. It’s okay for us to take a step back and breath and pause when there is a lot going on.
I am lucky and I am surrounded by such an amazing team that will step up whenever anyone of us needs help or needs a break. I know that when I go on a much-needed stay-vacation with my husband next month that my team will be just fine without me, but I do hope they miss me just a little.
