This was such a fun topic, made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. To keep this blog somewhat short was tough!
Why do I love events? Well, I love our industry and the people in it. That is what I truly love the most. But it was not always like that. So, let’s have some story time…
My first huge event was a nonprofit gala in Orlando, Florida. It was a huge 400-person gala. How the F did I get that job at 22? Not sure (I was a great salesperson!)! Anyways, it was an over-the-top event. Go–Go dancers – heavy production, and the best moment was when we opened the ballroom doors and guests came in. The coordination of the music, the smoke, the dancers – BOOM! I was done – I knew events would be my life in some capacity. It was a 20-hour day, but I couldn’t sleep in my hotel room. I was too jacked about what I was just a part of (I still get goose bumps over a great ballroom reveal and room transitions).
When I first started this business, I had 12 weddings my first season. Was just me, no assistants (didn’t know that was a thing!). I think about the first wedding I ever did. It was at a small ranch in Longmont, and the couple was so cute, kind, all the things you want. I remember being so nervous! But the day went great! I loved every minute of it. The mother of the bride was the one who hired me. She still likes my Facebook posts to this day.
Fast- forward 8 years…. My love has evolved. Yes, I still love events, but let’s talk about the people that power them!
